Lafayette by Night was a formal talent show hosted by VSOUL on November 9, 2024, in the UL Ballroom, with over 30 attendees. The event showcased members’ unique talents, including singing and a traditional fan dance. It aimed to foster self-expression and build community. Funded by VSOUL’s budget and supported by volunteers, resources went toward decor, tech, and refreshments. Marketing included social media posts, digital flyers, and word-of-mouth around campus.
What efforts were used to motivate and involve the organization's members?
To motivate and involve VSOUL’s members for Lafayette by Night, VSOUL created a supportive and collaborative environment that encouraged members to share their talents—whether serious or playful. Members were invited to perform in a low-pressure, celebratory setting, which helped boost confidence and foster excitement.
Did the organization overcome any challenges that arose while planning and implementing the event? How?
A challenge VSOUL faced was finding enough attention-grabbing talents to ensure the event would be engaging and diverse. To overcome this, e-board made a concerted effort to reach out personally to members, encouraging them to think creatively and step outside their comfort zones.
