APPLICATION RESPONSES
Why do you want to be on the Executive Board for UVSA Gulf Coast?
I want to be on the UVSA Gulf Coast Executive Board because I genuinely care about the community that GC has given me, and I want to give back to something that has given me a lot of growth and meaningful experiences. Being involved in VSOUL and Camp Delta has shown me the impact that strong leadership and connection can have, and I would like to continue contributing to this on a larger scale.
What makes you a qualified candidate for this position?
What makes me a qualified candidate for this position is my experience, my drive, and my genuine care for the community. Through my time in VSOUL as Secretary, Co-President, and Senior Advisor, along with being involved in Camp Delta, I have had the opportunity to grow as both a leader and a team member. These experiences have taught me how to be organized, dependable, and supportive, while also understanding how to work with different people and leadership styles.
I am someone who follows through on what I commit to, and I am motivated to help the organization grow while making sure everyone feels included and heard. While I am still building relationships across the region, I am very intentional about connecting with others and creating a space where people feel comfortable and valued.
Overall, I care deeply about this organization, and I want to give back by helping lead it in a positive and meaningful way.
What do you believe to be your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a leader? Please explain:
I would say that some of my greatest strengths as a leader are my drive, my ability to build relationships, and my empathy. I am motivated to get things done, and I put effort into forming genuine connections with people, which helps me create a positive and supportive environment. At the same time, I recognize that some of my weaknesses are my lack of confidence in my abilities and procrastination. There are moments where I doubt myself more than I should, and I am still working on managing my time better, but I have been trying to actively improve in both areas.
What is your vision for this position, as well as for UVSA Gulf Coast?
As for the president position, I would like the position to be more hands on with the other schools in the region and to have a relationship being made through that as well. This could be done with monthly meetings with the other presidents and semester meetings with each school's whole board, with the whole GC board as well.
As for GC, I feel as if we are in a time where some of the schools are slowing down, so I would like to preserve what GC already has and to slowly build those connections with the other schools and with each other as well. To do so, I think the implementation of smaller events in the major cities throughout the region would be nice to allow people in those areas be able to connect without the long travel.
