APPLICATION RESPONSES

Why do you want to be on the Executive Board for UVSA Gulf Coast?

I want to help the region grow back slowly but surely. I want to use my experience and connections to make fun events for people in GC, including TA, and possibly more.

What makes you a qualified candidate for this position?

Having previous experience in an eboard for a local VSA, I feel like some skills could translate over, especially working with a team, to cater to the Vietnamese community, college students, and others interested in joining the organization. Also, being currently a CoRR, I have gained connections in the UNAVSA scene.

What do you believe to be your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a leader? Please explain:

My biggest strength is being dependable. In a team setting, I always get my job and my role done, as best as I can. I put in a lot of work to make sure the product I contribute is up to standard. Being dependable means people can rely on me to do my part of a project.

My biggest weakness is not asking for help. Sometimes, I may take a lot on my plate, and continue to just work under all the pressure. Sometimes, not asking for help leads to inefficiencies in my work. I'm working to change my mindset by realizing I have a team/eboard to rely on, that I can ask to collaborate and provide insight from.

What is your vision for this position, as well as for UVSA Gulf Coast?

I want to rekindle the region that is Gulf Coast slowly but surely. By enacting more events and connections with the schools. In addition, I want to support each school individually, since they are what makes up the region. I want to increase connections among different local VSAs. Finally, I want to show, to a lesser extent, more exposure to other regions and the UNAVSA space.
